1 Timothy 5:1-16: Old & Young, Together
This is the first of two interrelated teachings on the ways that God’s principles in 1 Timothy 1-4 overflow into relationships. Paul charges followers of Jesus to love everyone, to care for people in vulnerable situations (specifically in this chapter, widows), and to honor servant leaders within the church family.
While the rest of 1 Timothy 5 and 6 look at other relationships, these three remind us of the closeness that God’s people have in Christ, and point to Jesus as the most sacrificial, most loving example to us and to the world.
If you’re following along with our series in 1-2 Timothy, here is Oct 5’s teaching on 1 Tim 4, where Nicole Tatum talks through discipleship and correction. (Oct 12 was led a guest couple, & was a break from our series.)
