Displaying & Declaring the Resurrection (Acts 1-2)

On the Sunday after this year’s Easter, we look at the impact of the first-ever Easter. After spending a month seeing various doubts (in both Jesus’s time and in our own), we see the immediate change in Jesus’s closest friends and followers, and in the world around them. Before they met Jesus, they were everyday people, with normal lives, from various walks of life. But after Jesus raised, they were all charged to be “my witnesses.” Specifically, after of the resurrection Jesus’s followers shaped their lives around Jesus; they told the world about Jesus; and they gave their lives for Jesus — literally! For those who doubt the resurrection, it’s worth considering the wholesale change in these men and women. And for those who follow Jesus, these things are still Jesus’s charges and invitations to his followers today.
